Karoline Leavitt, the press secretary at the White House, has been candid about her marriage to Nicolas Riccio, a 32-year-old real estate developer.
The couple tied the knot in January 2025, just prior to President Donald Trump’s second inauguration. On March 12, Leavitt, who is 27, shared wedding photos on Instagram, describing her wedding day as one of the happiest moments of her life.
In a recent appearance on The Megyn Kelly Show, Leavitt characterized her relationship as “unconventional yet immensely supportive.”
Reflecting on her congressional campaign in 2022, she recounted her first encounter with Riccio at a restaurant event in New Hampshire. Although she secured the Republican nomination, she ultimately lost to Democrat Chris Pappas. Nevertheless, meeting Riccio during that political endeavor proved to be a personal advantage. Leavitt noted that their age difference quickly became insignificant, despite initial concerns. She referred to Riccio as her “greatest supporter, best friend, and rock,” emphasizing her gratitude for his unwavering support.
She remarked, “He has established a very successful business on his own, and now he fully backs my pursuit of career success.”
Marriage, Parenthood, and Career
The couple welcomed their son, Nicholas Robert Riccio, on July 10, 2024, just a few months after their engagement on Christmas 2023.
Following the birth, Leavitt took to Instagram to share her joy about motherhood, stating, “The saying that nothing compares to the love for your child is true. My heart has expanded beyond what I ever imagined. Babies are the greatest blessing, and I am incredibly thankful for our beautiful, happy, and healthy boy.”
During her interview, she also spoke about how her husband has embraced the chaos of her demanding career. “He is the father of my child and the best father I could wish for. He is incredibly supportive, especially during the busiest times. Life has been a whirlwind since I entered his life, but he is completely on board, and I say, ‘God bless him.’”A Personal Companion in the Public Eye
Although Riccio is a prominent public figure, she prefers to maintain a level of anonymity. In a recent social media update, she reflected on this aspect of her life, characterizing her partner as her complete opposite and an introverted individual.
“He is my greatest supporter, an exceptional father, and the finest man I have ever known, yet I honor his desire for privacy in this space.”
She emphasized that, despite his preference for a private life, he remains her most dedicated supporter, backing her political ambitions while staying out of the limelight.
Leavitt expresses her gratitude for the steadfast support of her husband and their growing family as she navigates her responsibilities as a mother, wife, and political leader.
