Taylor Swift made a special surprise visit to 96-year-old World War II veteran and big fan, Cyrus Porter, for Christmas. She came by to chat and even played a song for him! When she arrived, everyone was super excited and cheered loudly. After the excitement calmed down, she performed her popular song “Shake It Off” in an acoustic version, and everyone joined in to sing along.
Taylor started by wishing the family a merry Christmas and giving high fives to the kids. Then she turned to Mr. Porter and said, “My dad sent me a video of you, and I heard you wanted to see a concert. I’m not sure when I’ll be on tour again, so I thought I’d put on a little show right here, and we can take some song requests.” It was such a touching moment!
Taylor Swift, who was with her parents, had a nice conversation with Mr. Porter. During their chat, she shared that her grandfather was a veteran of World War II. Mr. Porter was surprised and showed how energetic he still was at 96 by standing up to tell a short story about his experiences in the war. After that, Taylor grabbed her acoustic guitar and played a lively version of “Shake It Off,” which got the little kids dancing and the rest of the family singing along. You can see the moment Taylor walked in to meet Mr. Porter.
Chris Porter, a family member, posted the video and praised Taylor, saying, “Taylor Swift showed she has a lot of integrity and character. She didn’t try to steal the spotlight when she came in. She looked genuinely touched and grateful for our loud cheers. She even seemed a bit humbled by our warm welcome.” Don’t miss Swift performing “Shake It Off” with her full live setup in the video below.
