Angelina Jolie cleared up her motive for smooching her brother
The Oscars is known for being a go-to event for strange controversies, but one incident truly stood out and now we have the answers behind it.
Ever since its establishment in 1929, the evening when famous personalities showcase their style and prepare to receive the prestigious golden award for their achievements has been viewed by millions across the globe.
Over the years, the Oscars have seen a lot of noteworthy events, from Ricky Gervais’ provocative jokes about Jeffrey Epstein and Will Smith’s altercation with Chris Rock, to Leonardo DiCaprio’s romantic relationships and John Cena’s surprising appearance “naked”.
However, there have been some instances that may come close to the level of shock caused when Angelina Jolie and her brother, James Haven, made an unusual statement on the red carpet in 2000.

It has been 24 years since that event took place, and if you recall when it occurred and was widely covered in the media – you are now considered old.
Jolie, who was 24 years old at the time, received an Oscar for her role in the film “Girl, Interrupted” in the year 2000.
Upon receiving the award for Best Supporting Actress at the Academy Awards, Jolie took the stage to express her love for her brother Haven, who was 26 years old at the time.
Jolie said: “I’m in shock, and I’m so in love with my brother right now.”
“He just held me and said he loved me, and I know he’s so happy for me. And, um, thank you for that.”
However, once they stepped outside, they decided to take a picture together. That’s when Jolie surprised Haven with a kiss on the lips.
Why did they do it?
She later admitted, when questioned, that it was simply a brotherly affection.
Jolie said to Entertainment Weekly, “That moment meant a lot to my parents, and that’s the most important thing.”

Haven also spoke up, mentioning to the Daily Mail in 2007: “I didn’t actually French kiss Angie. It was a nice and simple gesture. She was getting ready to leave for Mexico to finish filming Original Sin with Antonio Banderas.”
“I congratulated her on the Oscar win and gave her a quick kiss on the lips. It was snapped and became a big thing.”
However, that’s not the only strange move Jolie has made throughout the years.
When she got married to her second husband, Billy Bob Thornton, they both thought it would be cool to wear a vial of each other’s blood on a necklace.
When talking about that time in 2014, Thornton mentioned that it didn’t seem strange back then.
The actor from the movie Bad Santa said, “She thought it would be cool and sweet if we used a small razor blade to cut our fingers, put a bit of blood on these lockets, and wear them around our necks like how you wear your child’s baby hair in a locket.”
“Same thing. From that we were wearing quart jars of blood around our necks.
“And we were vampires and we lived in a dungeon.”
