Meghan Markle shares rare photo of son Archie to celebrate his 6th birthday
The Duchess of Sussex took to Instagram to share a touching photo of her son on his sixth birthday, capturing the little royal in a sun-drenched moment that’s already pulling at the internet’s heartstrings.
But while Archie spent the big day with mom, Meghan, and younger sister Lilibet, his dad, Prince Harry, was notably absent.
In the beautifully composed snap, Archie is seen leaning on a barrier in striped clothes, gazing out at the sea as the sun sets behind him. A soft, glowing halo effect forms around his head, making the photo look almost ethereal.
Meghan kept her message simple but poetic, writing: “Our son. Our sun. Happy 6th birthday to Archie! Thank you for all of the love, prayers, and warm wishes for our sweet boy. He’s six! Where did the time go?
“(And for all of you who came to celebrate with us at his party last weekend, thank you for making his birthday so incredibly special).”
While Meghan and the kids celebrated Archie’s milestone in California, Prince Harry was across the country in Las Vegas. It was confirmed last week that the Duke of Sussex would miss his son’s birthday celebrations due to the launch of a major new initiative.
The move sparked déjà vu for royal watchers. Harry also missed Archie’s birthday two years ago, choosing to attend the coronation of his father, King Charles, instead.
This year, the prince was in Nevada to unveil his Pledge to Invest scheme in collaboration with the Diana Award, per the Sun.
The initiative offers, in Harry’s words, an “opportunity for forward-thinking businesses to make a strategic, measurable and high-impact investment in the future of youth leadership.”
During his time in Vegas, Harry also met with two young winners of The Legacy Award, a prize set up in memory of Princess Diana to celebrate outstanding social and humanitarian efforts among young people.
The birthday photo wasn’t the only rare family moment Meghan shared recently. Just days earlier, she posted three never-before-seen images of Archie and three-year-old Lilibet on Instagram.
In one of the pictures, Meghan herself is seen holding a pink rose while basking in the sunlight with her children.
She captioned the carousel of adorable moments: “Sunday kind of love….with my little loves.”
